Nuts are a great snack to have on the Keto diet, but we all know that nuts come in many different shapes and sizes. Some are better for the keto diet than others because of the amount of carbs that they have in them. The Keto diet is based on a low carb high fat ratio much like the atkins diet. By eating less carbs your body starts to burn fat for energy, this is why people experience weight loss.

The best nuts for the keto diet are Pecans, Brazil Nuts and Macadamia nuts, these nuts have the lowest amount of carbs per serving

In a serving size of 30 Brazil nuts there are only 2 grams of carbohydrates. This is a healthy snack that would be a great addition to your ketogenic diet. These nuts contain a very high percentage of fat which is great for this specific diet. In addition they also contain protein and essential minerals and vitamins.

The next set of nuts are Hazelnuts, Almonds, Walnuts, Peanuts, and Pine nuts. These nuts have a higher amount of carbs per serving but they are still great in moderation.

In a serving size of 30 nuts English Walnuts contain only 3 grams of carbohydrates. Like brazil nuts, walnuts would be a great addition to the keto diet. Because these nuts are high in unsaturated fatty acids they help reduce your body’s blood cholesterol levels. They are also a great source of iron, Vitamin B, and phosphorous.

The next set of nuts are Pistachios and Cashews, although these nuts are delicious they should try to be avoided on the keto diet. They are not bad for you but they are bad for the keto diet because they have a higher amount of carbs in them.

Altogether nuts are a great source of energy, they have good fats and calories plus some minerals. They can be a great source of nutrition for your body.
